What is AS9100B?

The dominant quality standard for aircraft/aerospace suppliers is AS9100B. Based on ISO 9001:2000, but with more than 75 additional requirements specific to aircraft/aerospace, AS9100B provides suppliers with a comprehensive quality system focused on areas directly impacting product safety and reliability.

What is AS9100C?

AS9100C is the latest revision of the AS9100 standard, issued in January, 2009. This standard replaces AS9011B, over the next thirty months. AS9100C adds to the requirements of AS9100B.

AS9100 has become a prerequisite for doing business in the aircraft/aerospace industry supply chain. Many aerospace customers only work with suppliers that are registered to the applicable AS9100 standard.

The much more narrowly focused AS9110 and AS9120 standards are included in the AS9100 group. AS9110 applies to aircraft MROs and repair facilities. AS9120 applies to aircraft parts distributors (i. e., "stockists").

Note: Some AS9120 clients (i. e., distributors) may need ASA-100 accreditation. The Aviation Suppliers Association (ASA) has carefully defined the procedures within ASA-100 to assure that aircraft parts distributors adopt appropriate aerospace practices. This standard was created to comply with FAA Advisory Circular 00-56A.
