The dominant
quality standard
for aircraft/aerospace suppliers is AS9100B:2004.
Based on ISO 9001:2000, but with more than
75 additional requirements specific to aircraft/aerospace, AS9100
provides suppliers with a comprehensive quality system focused on areas directly
impacting product safety and reliability.
AS9100 is rapidly
becoming a prerequisite for doing business, as many aerospace original equipment
manufacturers (OEMs) only work with suppliers that are registered to the
applicable AS9100 standard.
The much more narrowly
focused AS9110 and AS9120 standards are included in the AS9100 group.
AS9110 applies to aircraft MROs and repair facilities. AS9120 applies to aircraft
parts distributors (i. e., "stockists").
