What is ISO/TS 16949:2002?
ISO/TS 16949:2002 is the leading international quality management system specification in the automotive industry. ISO/TS 16949:2002 is based on ISO 9001:2000.
ISO/TS 16949 specifies the quality system requirements for the design and development, production, and where relevant, installation and servicing of automotive-related products. "First-tier" supplier registration to ISO/TS 16949:2002 is specified by all major automotive OEMs. ISO/TS 16949 is simple and easy to understand, connects the quality management systems to all other business processes, and includes enhanced compatibility with an ISO 14001 environmental management system, if needed (e. g., by Ford Motor Company in Q1).
